Katy Hamlett MSc., BSc.

Katy Hamlett, (previously Katy Longstaff) your instructor practices the Taoist internal arts of Wu Style Tai Chi Chuan, Nei Kung, Chi Kung, Tui Na, Push Hands, Taoist Breathing, Taoist Meditation and Ba Gua Zhang.  She has been developing her practise since 1994.

Katy founded Brixton Tai Chi in 1996, becomming the manager and Senior Instuctor. She has gained a wealth of experience and knowledge working with the general public, athletes, in and out patients in the NHS, local companies, thge Civil Service and Schools. 

Katy has a particular interest in the health side of the practices (and has previously been employed within the Medicines Control Agency and the pharmaceutical industry in a scientific capacity). 

She has trained in the UK, Europe and the US with Master Bruce Kumar Frantzis, Jamie Dibdin, Chris Chappell and Paul Cavel amongst others.

Katy gained international teaching qualification from B. K. Frantzis energy arts for Chi Kung in 1998.  She is also approved by the Tai Chi Union of Great Britain to teach Tai Chi and related arts in the UK, with full Instructor status.

In April 2008 Katy Hamlett was the invited guest on BBC Radio 2 Chris Evans show.  Chris interviewed Katy live for 5 minutes about Tai Chi.  Katy taught Johnny, the sports commentator some Tai Chi and Taoist Breathing.  Johny found it very relaxing.  Visit the Picture Gallery to see the photos or the student comments page to find out what Johnny said.

Katy holds a clean Enhanced Disclosure Certificate (Number 001134611757), previously refered to as a "Police Check" to allow her to work with children and vulnerable adults.  She is on the national register of those working unattended with children.

Katy holds malpractice and public liability insurance through DSC-Strand Limited Policy number TC/0307/AC.

Enterprise, Money and Business Training and Facilitation

Katy Hamlett MSc. Bsc. also works with YoungBiz to provide enterprise and money training to 8-18 year olds and UK GradSchool to provide life skills training to Post graduate students.  Contact Insight to discuss YoungBiz, GRADSchool and independent courses.  Katy draws on her background in Pharmaceutical Research and Development within Industry, the Civil Service (the then Medicines Control Government Agency), and private business.
